Troubleshooting¶
Common issues and how to resolve them.
| Issue | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Proxy is active but no traffic is flowing | Verify your DNS or clients are actually pointing at the staple IP. Confirm your origin is accepting connections from GatewaySentry's edge IPs — some firewalls need to be updated to allow this. |
| Origin sees GatewaySentry's IP instead of the real client | You're on Reverse Proxy mode. Switch to Reverse Proxy + PROXY Protocol or one of the tunnel modes. See the Proxy Modes Reference. |
| GRE tunnel won't come up | Confirm your network allows IP protocol 47 (GRE). Some cloud providers block it by default. Try FOU Tunnel as an alternative. |
| Cannot edit Destination IP | The proxy must be deactivated before the destination can be changed. Click deactivate, edit, then reactivate. See Editing Your Configuration. |
| Cannot change anything on this staple IP | Your staple IP may be managed — contact support for assistance. |
| Lost or need to rotate the Customer Key | Contact GatewaySentry Support. |
